By now, you're familiar with Shawnee's tragic tale in The Mockingbird Song, but one question I get a lot is: "What IS 'the mockingbird song'? Is it a real song?" And the answer is: yes! (In fact, I was once chastised by an angry journalist who'd been looking for it on YouTube and showed his young son my video by mistake. Oops.) It's a super old southern lullaby of unclear authorship, but this version by Anne Murray is one of my favorites. Enjoy!
